How can you help your child with this strategy at home?
We call it “I-Pick”
I- I pick my own book (Mom and Dad only give me the opportunity to find a book, like by taking me to the library.)
P- Purpose (What is my purpose for choosing this book?)
I- Interest (Am I interested in this book, for me?)
C- Comprehension (Do I understand what I just read?)
K- Know (Do I know most of the words on the page? If I can read ALL of the words…,it’s too easy and not a Good Fit Book. If I can’t read A LOT of words on one page, it’s too hard…I need to not be able to read about 3-4 words on a word given page…JUST RIGHT!. I will use my new reading strategies to work them out!)
